What are TEPs, and why are they needed?
• The Digi4Live project is setting up a series of Thematic Expert Panels (TEPs) to co-create solutions that enhance digital transformation in the livestock sector. These panels bring together experts across domains to shape standards, technologies and frameworks that improve data use and governance.
• Input from experts is essential to overcome technical, legal and societal barriers related to exploiting digital technologies and data sharing in livestock value chains. TEPs ensure that innovation in digital tools, data interoperability and governance is inclusive, practical and aligned with EU policy and stakeholder needs.
TEP-I: Data Interoperability & Standardization
This panel focuses on creating frameworks and standards that allow different digital systems and datasets in the livestock sector to work together. It addresses challenges in harmonising data formats and structures to ensure smooth data exchange across platforms.
Who should apply:
- • Standards developers (e.g., ICAR working group members, ISO stakeholders).
• Experts in animal sector data, breeding, or integrated data solutions.
• Innovators who have delivered data integration projects

TEP-T: State-of-the-Art Digital Tools & Technologies

This panel explores cutting-edge digital tools used in livestock tracking, management and automation. It brings together innovators and developers to identify promising technologies and guide their practical application across the industry.
Who should apply:
- • Software developers, sensor companies and app developers.
• Experts of companies offering digital solutions for livestock tracking and management.
• Innovators with a track record in adopting or developing digital tools.
TEP-R: Societal, Regulatory & Legal Issues
This panel examines the ethical, legal and regulatory challenges surrounding data use in the livestock sector. It examines challenges and solutions related to recently adopted regulations and policies, and supports the development of fair and effective data governance in line with the EU Data Act and other policy initiatives.
Who should apply:
- • Policy makers, researchers and representatives from umbrella organisations.
• Private sector professionals working with data and technology solutions.
• Experts in ethical, legal and societal aspects of data exploitation.

TEP-S: Data Sharing & Exploitation

Focused on unlocking the value of livestock data, this panel works on practical approaches to data sharing, reuse and monetisation. It aims to co-develop models that enable secure, transparent and efficient use of shared data across the value chain.
Who should apply:
- • Data advisors, experts and stakeholders with experience in data sharing solutions.
• Professionals who have implemented data sharing and exploitation projects.
• Innovators passionate about unlocking the value of data in the livestock sector

What is Expected of TEP Members?
If selected, you will have to participate in 3-4 online meetings throughout the project. These sessions (typically 2-3 hours each) include workshops and focus groups. Participation is flexible and decided event by event. Your insights will directly contribute to the co-creation efforts of Digi4Live.
